Madigan made... an unruly monster!
I have a monster living next to my deck.
He is both beautiful and scary at the same time.
I was so excited when I first met him. After we moved into our home, I saw his leaves peeking through the soil that spring. I loved the look of hostas and heard they were low maintenance.
Then I saw how big he grew!
But I slowly learned how to tame the beast. I chopped him up every spring, and spread his "spawn" throughout our landscaping.
I ran out of landscaping beds. So, I gave pieces to friends and family. I even planted chunks of him in pots around the deck for easy, low maintenance (and free!) decor each season.
But he keeps coming back bigger and badder every year.
And this season - I forgot to cut him back. Oops.
Time got away from me this spring. I told myself I'd just split him up in the fall.
"How big would he really get?" Famous last words.
Even little Madigan is in awe!
Oh well. He's getting cut back this fall.
Despite his intimidating size - he does not drink much, looks lovely and flourishes anywhere.
It is easy to love this monster.
"You could plant a hosta upside down and it would grow."
(overheard somewhere at a landscaping center)
That's my kind of monster plant.
