Valentine's "cupcake" display {it's not whatcha think...}

Madigan made...  a Valentine's cupcake vignette.

Remember how I complained earlier this month that I was tired of changing around the house for the holidays?

Well, I got out of that funk... and I decided to put out a few things for Valentine's Day. I love decorating with red, so this was an easy holiday to incorporate in our home. I have two simple vignettes to show you this week.

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, I shared with you my recent thriftin' find:

Cauute, right?

I could not resist this vintage cupcake metal sign. It was perfect for Valentine's and calling my name. When I got it home, I was unsure where to put it.

Then I remembered that I had this odd, red horizonal wreath stand. One of my relatives found it on clearance for me. We thought it might be a cute display stand at a craft fair (and I liked the color, too).

The stand was too tall to fit on the kitchen table (it bumps the chandy... plus I have other plans for over there).
I stuck it on our foyer table. I contemplated making a wreath or just putting candles on the wreath 'circle'.

But I then I found the cupcake sign... So I thought this red metal thing might serve as a 'cupcake stand'.

I wanted more red in this display, so I grabbed some red ornaments. I filled pink cupcake liners with red baubles. I happened to have heart-shaped ornaments from another recent project, too (more on that later this week).

Little ornament "cupcakes", right?

To add a little weight to the metal sign, I used some picture hanging strips to mount the sign on top of an old frame.

Then, I just hung the frame with a red grosgrain ribbon.

The table is kinda small and that red wreath thing-y is so big, that I did not add anything else to this display. (and I like to keep things simple, remember?)

The other vignette I will show you this week involves my heart-shaped doily wreath in the kitchen.
Stay tuned...
