Personalize Your Tape Measure with a Little Decoupage

Madigan made... a Dimensional Magic covered tool.

Because every DIY girl needs a cute tape measure!
(or a DIY boy - this could totally be customized for them, too!)

After I made my fun business card holder from a tin with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic (DM for short), I wanted to cover something else with it.

I was partly inspired by Char from Crap I've Made and her DM covered scissors. (You've got to check those out... they are so cute.)

Craft and DIY tools need to look good, too, right?

So, I grabbed the mini tape measure that Diane (from In My Own Style) included in our "I <3 Thrifting" day goodie bags. (Isn't she sweet? Thanks, Diane!)

The tape measure was functional and perfect for my purse, but I wanted to add a little something.

1 inch hole punch made the perfect size circle of paper to cover the center area on the tape measure.

First, I took regular Mod Podge and glued the paper down to both sides of the tape measure.

Then, like I did with my business card holder, I slowly outlined the paper and filled in circle with the DM glue on one side.

I allowed that side to dry overnight and repeated the process on the other side.

The glued dried to a hard surface and was crystal clear.

Simple, cute and durable - ready for any thrifting or hardware store adventure!

I'm on a roll with this DM stuff!  Hmm... what other functional objects need a little shiny fun added to them??

(Note: I am not affiliated in any way with the makers of DM or compensated... This is my opinion and I just think DM is really cool stuff!)
