Ready for Mean Irene. I think.

Madigan made... a preparation check list.

Rumor has it... I might need these polka-dot cuties this weekend.
If you live on the east coast of the US, are you ready for (hurricane) Irene?

We live in eastern PA and I'm hoping we just get a little rain... but I'm afraid we might get a lot of wind and a ton of water. There is a good chance we could lose power, too. But I fear that folks along the coastline will get it a lot worse that us, so I can't complain.
Even still, I thought it was worth running through a little preparation checklist to be prudent. Check the FEMA website for more tips (thanks to reader and FB fan Rosynell for the tip!).

I hope we are ready:
Gas in the car? Check.
Extra cash? Check.
Lots of bottled water? Check.
Radio, flashlight and loads of batteries? Check.
Medicine and dog food? Check.
Bread and some non-perishable food? Check.
Deck furniture and plants secured? Check.
Emergency bag with extra clothes and a little food in case we'd have to leave (Gosh I hope not)? Check.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something... Oh wait:
A bottle of wine and a few Tastykakes? Check and check!

I'm not sure if my computer access will be spotty or not next week. Fortunately, I have a couple of 'back-up' posts up my sleeve just in case.

I hope I'm being overly cautious and we won't need any of this stuff , but I'd rather be safe than sorry!
Even if we don't lose power, you can count on us using up the Tastykakes! (And if you've never heard of Tastykakes, I'm so sorry. They are little packaged baked goods from a local company around here. Think Little Debbies or Twinkies, only sooo much better.)
But in all seriousness, I'm wishing everyone safe thoughts... especially if you live on the east coast.
