Madigan made… a ‘blast from the past’ chalkboard quote.
Do you have a movie you love so much that whenever it comes on you have to watch it? A movie that you can quote almost line for line?
Say Anything is that movie for me.
Aside from being a great story (and having both John and Joan Cusack in it!), the film gives me flashbacks of sleepovers with my girlfriends when I was growing up. We’d watch this movie over and over again. And we’d get excited whenever the song In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel played at a school dance or on the radio. (which is, hands down, one of my all-time favorite songs)
So, this month’s chalkboard quote for our kitchen is inspired by the character Lloyd Dobler.
I thought about using another memorable quote from Lloyd, but it wouldn’t quite fit on the chalkboard:
“I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.” – Lloyd Dobler
Or this exchange:
Diane: “Nobody thinks it will work, do they?”
Lloyd: “No. You just described every great success story.”
I love a good underdog love story. And just like Lloyd, I think many of us envision ourselves as an average individual waiting for the ‘right’ moment to shine… or we wonder where our niche is in this world.
Here’s hoping we all find that ‘dare to be great situation.’ It is important to always keep looking!
